Most every Christian is familiar with Jesus’ declaration that whoever would come after Him must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow Him. But what does that mean? We have all likely heard the statement that ‘Everyone has his own cross to bear.’ And we’ve also likely heard everything from difficult marriages, stressful jobs, or even physical ailments referred to as a person’s ‘cross to bear.’ But is that that to which Jesus is referring when He calls prospective disciples to take up their crosses and follow Him? Listen as Pastor Matt sheds some light on this much maligned text and calls for disciples to take bold stands even in the face of rejection to the point of martyrdom.
