Jesus came, lived, & died on the cross, & by the time Matthew wrote his Gospel Jesus had not been seen or heard from in decades… & to top that all off, Rome STILL ruled over Israel. What kind of Messiah is that?!?! He didn’t defeat any of their perceived enemies. No wonder, 1 Cor. 1:22–23 the message of a crucified Christ was a stumbling block to the Jews.

Listen as Pastor Matt shows how that John’s arrest had no bearing on the present reality of the Kingdom of heaven.  God ordains our suffering at the hands of the rich and mighty of this age in order to display our faith in the age to come. We obey, like John obeyed. But God doesn’t always deliver us in the here and now. Indeed, Jesus NEVER rescued John. But he will one day raise him, and all of us who believe, from the dead!
