People today think taking a firm stand on issues of right and wrong is Pharisaical. Nothing could be farther from the truth! Jesus actually rebuked the Pharisees for ignoring God’s Law not for upholding it. Jesus corrected the Pharisees for teaching their almost universally held tradition as if it was God’s Law, when they ignored what God’s Law actually said.
How can Christians today be guilty of this sin of hypocrisy? Would you rather be accepted in your circles, & celebrated among men than be accepted by God? Do you parrot today’s talking points and the culture’s ethics while shying away from the biblical teachings that culture has deemed unacceptable? Are you a champion of ‘equity, diversity, and inclusion,’ but silent on abortion, biblical sexuality, or biblical gender roles? Where does this sort of compromise begin? It begins when your heart is far from God. It begins when you give more weight to something else other than God. Listen as Pastor Matt examines Matthew 15:7-9 to show that if a man honors God with his lips, but dishonors God’s Law then he is like the Pharisaical hypocrites.
