Last week Pastor Matt made a case for church discipline, and briefly connected church discipline to the Lord’s Supper. But how can that be? What role does the church play in deciding whether or not an individual takes communion? Doesn’t the bible simply say that a man should examine himself (I Corinthians 11:28)? Follow along as an overview of I Corinthians is laid out, and a case for ‘fencing the table’ is convincingly made from from the very text that is often cited in support of open communion. The very purity and eternal and temporal safety of the church is at stake. We cannot afford to get this wrong.
