A Theology of Bread_ Bread and the Eternal Sabbath

December 7, 2014 By Matthew Cooke Leave a Comment

A few weeks ago we looked at the Model Prayer, or the Lord’s prayer, as a prayer for the Kingdom. We pick up Matthew 6:9-11 and look at Jesus’ admonition that His disciples pray for bread. Later in the same chapter in verse 31 He instructs His people not to be anxious about such things. Is this a contradiction? Absolutely not. Listen as a contextual case is made for this bread being that perfect bread that allows us to enjoy the eternal Sabbath. A bread that provides perfect rest in Christ. Our Theology of Bread must terminate in the Glory of God as revealed in the person of Jesus Christ or it is an errant theology. Test this teaching by this standard, and may your heart be lifted up to praise God by what you see.
