When Jesus finished preaching the Sermon on the Mount the people were eklesso- a word meaning; astonished, amazed, panicked, and overwhelmed. Why? If one is not astonished, amazed, panicked, & overwhelmed then he hasn’t been listen or simply doesn’t believe what Jesus has been saying. The truths He preaches are shocking… even frightening. Their panicked response is appropriate; fear is better than flippancy. But what a person does with that fear is of eternal importance? Does it cause you to run from Christ or to Him? Flee to Christ and live!
