In olden times a person known as a herald would precede the arrival of a king, to announce his coming, & to prepare for his safe & proper travel. A herald had two jobs; to proclaim & to prepare. The O.T. informs us that God Himself would prepare such a herald who would announce the Messiah’s Arrival, call the people to submission to this new King, & to prepare the way of the Lord (Isaiah 40:3-5, Malachi 3:1-3, and Malachi 4:1-6). Listen as Pastor Matt looks at Matthew 3:1-7 showing that John the Baptist, the Herald of the Messiah, came in the days of Jesus the Nazarene just like he had to in order for Jesus to fit the Messianic expectation. The herald has arrived as advertised, & this herald was one special prophet.
