Matthew 2:23 is a puzzling text; “(Joseph, Mary and Jesus) came & lived in a city called Nazareth. This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophets: “He shall be called a Nazarene.” Why is that puzzling? The city of Nazareth is not mentioned in the Old Testament; not even once, more less multiple times as would be indicated in the phrase ‘by the PROPHETS.’ In fact, the city of Nazareth had not even been established at the when the final book of the Old Testament was written in 400 B.C. Did Matthew make a mistake? Does the Bible contain errors? Not at all! Not even one error can be found in God’s revelation. Listen as Pastor Matt explains that to which Matthew is pointing in this difficult text.
