Philippians 2:3-4 instructs believers to do nothing motivated by selfish ambition or empty conceit but instead in humility of mind to regard one another ans more important than ourselves. Great advice, but who could possibly live that out, and what would such a life look like? In Philippians 2 Paul gives us four examples: Christ, the apostle Paul himself, his beloved son in the faith and gifted pastor Timothy, and then some guy named Epaphroditus. Who is Epaphroditus, and why would Paul include him as an example? These other men were respected leaders, and Epaphroditus was ‘just an ordinary Christian.’ Exactly! Listen as Paul piles superlatives on Epaphroditus calling him brother, fellow worker, and fellow soldier, and consider how his example should motivate you to a life of self sacrifice for the sake of the Gospel.
