This title of this sermon; ‘Setting the Stage,’ sounds like it’s describing some sort of movie or play. It’s not. This ‘stage’ is the outworking of a Script, but not the script of a fictional tale. This stage is set in real space & real time by the ultimate Script Writer: God Himself. This story describes the central event of human history. Even non-Christians cannot hide from the fact that the events we are describing are the events that divide all of human history. What year is it? 2018 A.D., right? Why? A.D. stands for Anno Domini which is Latin for ‘in the year of our Lord.’ We are now 2018 past the birth of Christ. This sermon will focus on the human element of this plan to better understand the means God used to carry it out. We will be looking at 1) The Scene 2) The Scandal & 3) The Surrogate that led to the birth of the Savior.
